Hagens Berman Investigating Takata for Massive Airbag Recall, Seeking InformationSEATTLE --(Business Wire)-- Hagens Berman, a national class-action law firm, is investigating Japanese parts supplier Takata for a recent rash of recalls, which, according to recent reports, stem from faulty shrapnel-shooting airbag inflators installed in millions of vehicles in the United States, linked to injuries and fatalities. Concerned consumers who have owned a vehicle listed below can contact the firm by emailing [email protected] or by calling 206-623-7292.
"We believe Takata should take full responsibility for this immediate danger that has been posed to millions of drivers in America," said Steve Berman, managing partner at Hagens Berman leading the investigation. "The last thing any consumer should have to worry about is whether the very device manufactured to save their lives in a crash will actually prove fatal." Hagens Berman's Steve Berman was recently named co-lead counsel in the high-profile class-action lawsuit against General Motors (News - Alert), covering claims over faulty ignition switches and loss of vehicle value. The firm also secured a $1.6 billion settlement litigation against Toyota Motor Corp for owners of vehicles affected by faulty unintended acceleration. According to a September New York Times report, there had been at least 139 reported injuries across all automakers, including at least two deaths and 30 injuries in Honda vehicles. The Times reported that Honda and Takata allegedly knew about the faulty inflators in 2004 but failed to notify NHTSA in previous recall filings of related dangers. According to recent news, potentially 7 million U.S. vehicles are affected. Related recalls have increased since April of 2014, and in July, NHTSA forced additional regional recalls in high-humidity areas including Florida, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Another major recall issued on October 20 expanded the affected vehicles across several brands, according to recent reports. Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is a consumer-rights class-action law firm with offices nine cities. The firm has been named to the National Law Journal's Plaintiffs' Hot List seven times.
