Aerospike Recognized as a Visionary in Gartner 2014 Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Aerospike Inc., the world's fastest database, today announced that it has been recognized by Gartner (News - Alert), Inc. in the "Visionaries" quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems (ODBMS)1, which was published on October 16, 2014. This marks the second time Aerospike has been recognized as a Visionary in the report, which evaluates ODBMS based on completeness of vision and ability to execute. The report evaluated Aerospike's operational functionality, performance and marketing and hardware ecosystem.

"The operational DBMS market continues to grow, with innovative products and features being delivered by both new and traditional vendors," The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems2 report notes. It also states, "With the introduction of NoSQL and Hadoop in support of unstructured data in transactions and the viable use of in-memory computing, many organizations are beginning to use these new DBMS engines for specific use cases, such as global scalability of Web applications." The Gartner report further notes, "Due to its inherent speed, in-memory computing is becoming necessary for the processing of interaction and observation data integrated into transactions."

"Aerospike is powering a new class of real-time, data-driven applications, which previously were not technically or economically feasible," said Monica Pal, CMO, Aerospike. "This summer we open sourced our disruptive technology, bringing the benefits of speed, scale and reliability to even more organizations looking to achieve unprecedented growth. We're pleased to be recognized once again in the Visionaries quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems. We feel it reinforces how our breakthrough in-memory NoSQL tchnology is opening up new opportunities for innovation."

Unleashing the Economics of Flash

In today's always-on world, enterprises are turning to Aerospike to handle a massive increase in load, while eliminating the need for a linear increase in hardware and people. Aerospike unleashes the economics of flash, so businesses can scale to process 1 million transactions per second on a single server. Its proprietary flash optimization combined with its self-healing architecture and small cluster sizes simplifies scaling to a handful of servers rather than hundreds of servers. Customers can now harness the power of big data at the moment it matters most with the best price to performance ratio.
