UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation Elects Seven New Board Members(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Oct. 22 -- The University of Arkansas's School of Medical Sciences issued the following news release: The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) announces the election of seven new board members. The new board members are David Avery of Sherwood; Ray Dillon of Little Rock; Wade Ruckle and Ed Bennett of Maumelle; Cameron Smith of Rogers; and Hershey and Denise Garner of Fayetteville. With more than 25 years of experience in public relations and broadcasting, Avery serves as vice president of corporate affairs for Windstream where he oversees external communication and corporate philanthropy. Bennett serves as senior vice president of the Private Client Group for Regions Insurance Group and is active in many community organizations. Dillon is president and CEO of Deltic Timber Corp. and is a member of the company's board of directors. With an almost 30-year career in banking, Ruckle serves as president and CEO of Central Bank in Little Rock and CEO of Pinnacle Bank in northwest Arkansas. Smith is president of the executive search firm Cameron Smith & Associates Inc. In 2010, he began a second company, CSA Outplacement & Career Coaching, to assist companies during layoffs and downsizing. Denise Garner is a graduate of the UAMS College of Nursing and a retired oncology nurse practitioner. She serves as president of Complements Properties LLC and is founder and board chair of the hunger relief and nutrition education organization Feed Communities and its programs, Feed Fayetteville and Edible Ozarkansas. Hershey Garner, J.D., M.D., is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology and serves as a radiation oncologist at Highlands Oncology Group. He serves as chair of several regional ethics committees and is a graduate of the UAMS College of Medicine and University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.
