Pica8 Head of Solution Architectures Predicts Service Provider SDN Adoption in 2015

PALO ALTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

At a workshop held today for software-defined networking (SDN) professionals, Yaron Ekshtein, head of solution architectures at Pica8, told attendees that SDN adoption will accelerate in 2015 with service providers rolling out SDN-based networks in some of their operations.

As keynote speaker at the CoolSDN Workshop held in Raleigh, North Carolina, Ekshtein presented an overview of SDN's progress in 2014 and made bold predictions for 2015 and beyond. He stated that Layer 2-3 networks will be with us for a long time, and that SDN rollouts will add business logic to networks.

"Adding business logic to a network requires rethinking the stack so that the network doesn't constrin the business," said Ekshtein. "Pica8 is seeing preparations for production deployments of its SDN operating system and switches among major US and global service providers, and as the market sees use cases that deliver real business benefits, it will increasingly adopt SDN on a broad basis."
