STC and Huawei in partnership to raise value for customers [Saudi Gazette, The]

(Saudi Gazette, The Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)           JEDDAH - Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC) and Huawei signed Monday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of STC's strategic drive to enhance its networks and operations management capabilities while developing new business models for future growth.   The signing ceremony took place during GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, UAE, held last week, and attended by Abdulaziz Alsugair, STC Chairman and Managing Director, as well as Ali Shi, President of Huawei ME Region.   As part of the MoU, STC has partnered with Huawei across a number of development fronts aimed at enhancing STC customer experience while at the same time optimizing operational costs through better understanding of customer needs and wants, and ultimately winning customer loyalty by creating much more value than before. That cooperation will include the advancement of new Customer Asset Monetization schemes, the joint development of eLTE solutions to discover vertical industry market, as well as the pioneering of new business models cooperating with over-the-top (OTT) service providers.   "As a leader in a world of constant change, STC strives to exceed customer expectations by providing abundant, innovative and customized services and content with best customer experience in mind. It requires us to work with top global and regional technology providers within the telecommunications sector," said Alsugair. "Over the years, Huawei has proven to be a valued strategic partner of STC. It is with great ambitions that we are teaming up with Huawei once again to enhance customer experience, build healthy eco-systems, and transform both companies into global leading ICT players," added Alsugair.   In recent years, Saudi Arabia has undertaken a rapid development of its ICT industry including the construction of high-speed mobile broadband networks, numerous e-Government service projects, as well as a number of vertical industry initiatives being planned across the Kingdom.   "For over 20 years, Huawei has worked diligently to promote closer connections between people, things, and ideas. By partnering with STC, Huawei is excited to witness many miracles materialize at STC such as the successful 10-year Makkah network quality assurance for millions of pilgrims during Haj. Today, we are facing the tremendous transformation in the industry which brings a lot of challenges ahead of us. As a strategic partner, Huawei will help STC achieve best customer experience, agile marketing, and operational excellence by continuously introducing cutting-edge solutions, global successful experiences, as well as business and service innovation," noted Ali Shi.   Saudi Arabia is the biggest ICT market in the Middle East accounting for more than $7 billion in predicted spending in 2014, with the public sector allocating $1.63 billion to improve government services, education, healthcare and transportation amongst others.   Previously, STC has worked with Huawei on a number of key initiatives including the operator's latest upgrade of its Lte-Advanced mobile broadband network. In 2012 STC also selected Huawei's cutting-edge Smartcare platform to improve customer experience and become ready for agile marketing capability by understanding every customer's needs and wants.   This latest MoU further recognizes Huawei's end-to-end capabilities within the ICT sector. With a broad range of tailored products, solutions and consulting services, Huawei has worked with partners in over 170 countries serving one-third of the world's population. - SG (c) 2014 The Saudi Gazette.
