Asustek's post Q3 revenues of NT$123.93 billion

(China Post (Taiwan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Asustek Computer recently posted betterthanexpected consolidated revenues of NT$123.93 billion for the third quarter, a 17.8percent sequential growth rate and a 4.13percent increase from the same quarter in 2013.

Asustek said in a statement that the betterthanexpected thirdquarter data reflect strong global demand for laptop personal computers and smartphones.

Ausutek's laptop PC shipments to Europe, the United States and Asia registered an annual growth of 20 percent, while smartphone shipments to the same markets amounted to 3 million units in the same month.

With new products continually launched, institutional investors generally forecast Asustek's smartphone and laptop businesses to be more profitable in the fourth quarter of this year.

As for the Chinese market, the firm has beefed up research & development (R&D) efforts for its customized model of Zenfone 4G, and has launched several new products along with mainland telecom service providers prior to the upcoming China National Day holidays beginning Oct. 1.

In response to the increasingly stabilized global market for PCs, Asustek has added new models to its lineup to offer a wider range of laptops with unit prices ranging from US$199 to US$1,499. Meanwhile, the firm's newest notebook model, EeeBook X205, is also scheduled for launch before the Christmas season.

Additional good news for Asustek is that its smartphone sales in August neared the 1 millionunit level, giving institutional investors good reason to believe the firm's smartphone business has turned profitable in the month, earlier than expected.

To further fuel growth, the company has been accepting preorders for its 4.5inch, customized models of Zenfone smartphones in India, where to date its 16GB Zenfone 6, and 8GB, black and red Zenfone 5 all have been sold out on Flipkart, the nation's largest online retailer.

Asustek has also witnessed its smartphone sales in Southeast Asia steadily increase, looking to ambitiously boost its singlemonth shipments in Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand to 700,000 units overall, to drive its share of the regional market from 7 percent in August to 10 percent in September.

The consolidated revenues of Asustek Computer for September receded 1.4 percent by month to NT$41.57 billion, while those for the first nine months reached NT$332.58 billion, compared with NT$297.89 billion for the year to August.
