10 Things You Should Know About The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]

(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)   Undecided about getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 4? Or perhaps you’re just curious about what it offers over its predecessors in terms of features and other specifications. Here is a list of the things that you should and might want to know about the phablet.

It's made out of metal The Galaxy Note 4 has a metal frame made out of aluminium and magnesium that wraps the outside of the device. It has improved rigidity and a feel that can't compare to the plastic phones currently out there. The chamfered edges are likely easier to scratch than the hard plastic of previous versions but it does at least look good.

Backplate still removable and SD card can be added Even though most of the Note 4 is metal, the back is still plastic and can be removed, giving access to the Micro SIM, Micro SD and the rechargeable battery. The SD card slot supports up to 128GB if by some chance 32GB internal storage isn't enough.

Optical image stabilization helps with shaky hands when taking photos The Note 4 fixes one of the biggest pains of the Galaxy S5's camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This neat feature stabilizes the camera in the phone to reduce motion blur especially in low light. The Note 4 exposes scenes in low light with less grain and blur from shaky hands. It still isn't a complete fix and Samsung would need to improve further on the sensor and software. OIS is also still good for video recording, with hardware stabilizing if you do not have the software.

Multi-Window still hidden, but easier to look for Multi Window is something most would look for to work with the 5.7-inch screen; the Recents menu will show an icon for every compatible Multi Window app card that allows Multi Window to launch with a tap. Long press the back button to pull up two apps to run side by side.

Playback times can get out of hand when recording slow-motion video The ½, ¼ and ? speed slow motion and OIS allows the Note 4 to take great video at those slow speeds, but watch out for recording times. 20 seconds at ? speed would be 2.6 minutes in real time, so be careful or risk taking really boring videos.

Same Heart Rate Monitor and Finger Sensor as Galaxy S5 Samsung hasn't hyped the finger sensor or heart rate monitor on the Note 4; heart rate monitor on the back under the camera and finger sensor on the home button; using the same software as the Galaxy S5 which may be why it's a little quiet. The heart rate monitor would probably see some use, but the large screen makes the finger sensor somewhat pointless save for really specific uses.

Software features help deal with huge size The Note 4 is still a big phone, even if it's narrower than the Note 3. A 5.7-inch display is bigger than most can reach but Samsung has included features to help with the lack of hand size. "One-handed operation" turns on features that reduces the size of the screen and sliding the keyboard and lock screen from one side to another. A "Side key panel" can be turned on for access to Home, Back and Recent buttons.

Adaptive fast charging for quick battery boost for 30 minutes The Note 4 has support for both Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging and Qualcomm's Quick Charge to power up quickly from a compatible wall charger. Samsung claims the Note 4 can receive up to 50% with the right charger, also depending on how much you use the phone while it's charging. A logo for Adaptive Fast Charging will be on the Samsung charger shows it can do the super fast charges, while the usual high-output charger can give improved but slower charge times.

S Pen still  powerful, especially if you like to write The S Pen may not have been improved drastically from the Note 3 by Samsung but it probably didn't need to change much anyway. The pen is now ribbed for easier grip and still has a single button, but the biggest changes would be in the software. Air Command is pretty much the same, but the apps it launches have received various updates; Action Memo notes can be saved as widgets on your home screen  and the S Note is cleaner and easier to navigate.

"Panorama" selfies for wide shots "Selfies" are pretty popular nowadays, and the Note 4 can indulge in that. The 3.7MP front-facing camera can take pretty great photos, on top of the "panorama" feature. Select the feature, press the shutter once and sweep back and forth. The shots will be stitched together, handy for those group shots.
