(ANSAmed (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) (ANSAmed) - TUNIS, OCT 17 - A two-day fair dedicated to euro-mediterranean partnership, the Carrefour d'Affaires et de Technologies (Cat), ended Friday in Tunis. Cat is one of the most significant venues in Tunisia, it fosters the exchange of experiences and ideas between the operators of sectors holding a huge growth-potential: renewable energies, information technology, agroindustrial, mechanical, electronics, plastic and textiles. The fair's opening was attended by Minister of Industry Kamel Ben Naceur, Minister of Commerce Nejla Harrouche, the President of Utica (The Tunisian Industry Federation Confindustria tunisina) Wided Bouchamaoui and Laura Baeza, head of the Eu delegation to Tunisia. The Italian Ambassador, Raimondo De Cardona, also attended the fair as a testament of his support in the country's transition. Tunisia sits at the crossoroads between Africa, the northern flank of the Mediterranean and the Arab world, geographic and cultural circumstances which enhance its bid to represent an ideal investment and strategic-partnership destination. Ice, Italy's Agency for the promotion and internationalisation of Italian compagnies abroad, is attending the fair within the framework of its strategic-partnerhip activities. A stand jointly represented by Ice and the Italian Embassy is hosting the Italian Chamber of Commerce in an area of the fair where American, French, Canadian, Turkish and Swiss stands are also on display. Ice will assist Tunisian and foreign operators interested in developing relations and industrial partnerships with Italian companies.

Fifty Italian enterprises from various Italian regions (with Promos assisting companies from Lombardy) are attending the fair in orderd to build business to business relations with their Tunisan counterparts . Several conferences have also been scheduled such as the one organised Friday by Anima in cooperation with the European Delegation to Tunisia, titled "Economic integration in Maghreb and the role of the private sector".

The Enpi project COMPASS - financed by the IEVP-CT Italy-Tunisia 2007-2013 Programme- will also offer a tangible contribution to partnership initiatives between Tunisia and Sicily with the promotion of an entreprise-meeting in the agroindustrial sector during which Tunisian companies will receive information about transborder industrial and commercial partnership, drawing on a COMPASS study completed in the last few months.
