Public Hearing Scheduled in Beulah for Proposed Wind Project and Transmission Line

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BISMARCK, N.D., Oct. 14 -- The North Dakota Public Service Commission issued the following news release: The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold two public hearings on Thursday, Oct. 23, regarding a proposal to construct a wind farm and associated electric transmission line in Mercer County.

Antelope Hills Wind Project, LLC, has submitted an application for the Antelope Hills Wind Energy Project. The wind farm will have a capacity of up to 172 megawatts and will use between 75 and 86 wind turbines, depending on the model used. Additional project facilities include access roads, electrical collection systems and cabling, an operation and maintenance building, and a substation.

The project will also include a 9.5-mile long 345 kilovolt transmission line. The line would move power from the proposed wind farm site to the interconnection point at the existing switchyard of Basin Electric's Antelope Valley Station.

The proposed location for the project is in northwestern Mercer County, northwest of Beulah and north of Zap and Golden Valley. The project would be located on approximately 36,600 acres of private land and five state trust parcels totaling 200 acres. (Note to the media: A map showing the proposed location of the wind farm and transmission line has been provided to you for use with any announcements/stories you print.) Details for the public hearings are as follows (Note: Two separate hearings are scheduled): * When: Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 9 a.m. CDT - Wind Project 1 p.m. CDT - Transmission Line * Where: Beulah City Hall, Council Chambers 120 N. Central Ave., Beulah, N.D.

The hearings provide an opportunity for members of the public to contribute to the PSC's official record. Any comments from members of the public must be received at the hearing to be part of the record. People with concerns, questions or support for the project are encouraged to attend the hearing and present the information. Information received after the hearing will not be part of the official record and cannot be used as a basis for the Commission's decision unless certain additional procedures are followed. The hearing schedule provides for the company to present its case and answer questions from the Commissioners first, after which the Commission will take comments from other parties and the public.
