Primacy and 3000 Miles to a Cure to Develop Google Glass App to Help Further Brain Cancer Research

FARMINGTON, Conn. --(Business Wire)--

Independent agency Primacy today announced that it has teamed up with 3000 Miles to a Cure to develop a Google (News - Alert) Glass application for Race Across America (RAAM), which will help to raise money for brain cancer research. Through Google's Giving through Glass initiative, Primacy was chosen as one of an elite group of developers to collaborate with one of five carefully-selected nonprofit organizations to develop applications that utilize Glass to amplify their cause and create a significant impact on society.

"Brain cancer has a very low survival rate and because it affects the brain, its impact on the patient and family is devastating, said Maria Parker, director, 3000 Miles to a Cure. "Our mission is to end brain cancer by raising funds for research, extending an open invitation to unite in hope and action for the cure. We're thrilled to work with Google and Primacy to utilize Glass to further our cause and help find a cure to end brain cancer."

Primacy and 3000 Miles to a Cure will collaborate on an Ultra Challenge Fundraising application that will leverage Google Glass to share the raw experience of riders' journeys and pair their progress and perseverance with fundraising pledge milestones and notes of encouragement along the route. Users will be able to see and experience RAAM through a racer's eyes and the racer will be alerted to every message of support and donation sent. This will create a powerful change-making cycle of encouragement, shared purpose and inspiration, giving the team the strength to power through the race. Glass will also be used by the racer to share critical information with crew throughout the 10-day race.

"We're excited to have the chanc to work with 3000 Miles to a Cure to develop an application that will make a difference in the world," said Melissa Tait, senior vice president of technology and project management, Primacy. "Our expertise is deeply rooted in technology and we are always looking for ways to leverage revolutionary technologies to deliver meaningful experiences to users. We are passionate about innovation and see the influence that it has on users. We look forward to working with Google and 3000 Miles to a Cure to raise funds for brain cancer research."

Out of 550 applications from developers across the globe, Primacy was one of just five developers selected for the prestigious opportunity and was the only agency chosen to participate. Primacy was selected for its emerging technology initiatives, development expertise and cross-capability service offerings. As technology continues to evolve and help connect users worldwide, Google Glass provides a variety of opportunities for organizations to create applications and services that will make a difference.
