The president was talking to representatives of telecommunication companies at a meeting also attended Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdullah Abdullah, Second Vice-President Sarwar Danish and Information Technology and Communications Acting Minister Amerzai Sangin.

Sangin said currently 90 percent of the country's population had been extended telecommunication services and efforts were underway to cover more areas.

He said the Telecommunications Ministry stood second in contributing high revenue to the national kitty.

Roshan Telecom Company chief Karim Khwajah, who attended the meeting, shared his views with the president about reducing costs of telecom services.

Both President Ahmadzai and CEO Abdullah assured telecom companies' representatives that their problems would be resolved on a priority basis.

"I will directly solve telecom companies' problems," Ahmadzai told the participants.

He also asked the telecom companies representatives to manage their services in coordination with the government in order to improve governance, distance education and medical profession.

The companies should not only provide telecom service but should also cooperate with the government in other areas, he said.

Abdullah said the government was committed to resolving problems in the telecom sector through a clear plan and bringing reforms to the sector. He also urged telecom companies to make efforts at training Afghan students.
