Huawei to deploy a total of 10,000 LTE sites in Guadalajara, Merida for mobile trio [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Chinese telecoms equipment manufacturer Huawei has confirmed that it has been selected by three different Mexican mobile operators – Telcel, Nextel de Mexico and Movistar – for the deployment of a total of 10,000 Long Term Evolution (LTE) base transceiver stations (BTS) in the cities of Guadalajara and Merida. Despite the complementary geographical footprint, the vendor has stressed that each deployment contract is entirely separate. According to online news source La Jornada, the cell sites will be deployed over the next three years. Further, the website notes that Mexico City-based LTE deployments have not been included in any of the contracts.
