(Cision Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) This year’s theme announced to be The Rush of Gold: Precious Metals in Art and Antiques FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SAN FRANCISCO, CA–October 8th, 2014–The 2014 San Francisco Fall Antiques Show (http://www.sffas.org) (SFFAS) will run from Thursday, October 23 through Sunday, October 26, at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion with its 2014 theme: The Rush of Gold: Precious Metals in Art & Antiques. The show launches with a Preview Gala on Wednesday, October 22nd, as always, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Enterprise for High School Students (http://www.ehss.org/), the San Francisco non-profit that prepare Bay Area youth for their future through job readiness training, employment, and career exploration. On Thursday, October 23, the show opens for its four day run. This year’s focus ties in with the beauty and lore of gold and silver in art and antiques, and its importance to the birth of San Francisco.

“For centuries, precious metals have been used by artisans in paintings, jewelry, inlaid furniture, textiles, porcelain and china, objets d’art and book binding”, says Ariane Trimuschat, Director of the Fall Antiques Show. “They have a natural beauty and value on their own--in an artist’s hands, they can be shaped and molded into an array of forms and be made even more beautiful. It is also part of a rich history in San Francisco as the Gold Rush of 1849 gave birth to the city we know today.” In the tradition of past years, the Fall Antiques Show is thrilled to be working with a renowned architecture firm on the Grand Entry Hall display. This year, the New York and San Francisco-based Ike Kligerman Barkley  (http://www.ikba.com/) will be creating a larger-than-life spectacle that ties into the 2014 theme in an artistic and playful manner. “Our display pays homage to the Bay Area’s digital culture,”says Thomas A. Kligerman, who leads the project. “We’re hoping our immersive take on ‘the Rush of Gold’will pleasantly surprise the Fall Antiques Show crowd.” Greeting guests will be Honorary Chair, Diane Wilsey, Connoisseurs Circle Chair, Michele Goss, who chaired the show for 10 years, and Adrianna Pope Sullivan, the current show committee chair.

The show will feature a full roster of programming, including its renowned Lecture Series, The Loan Exhibition, Designers Saturday events, and Cocktail Hour Talks.
