Hassan Campaign Launches 'Business Leaders for Hassan'

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANCHESTER, N.H., Oct. 4 -- Maggie Hassan, a Democrat running for re-election for New Hampshire Governor, issued the following campaign news: Today, Governor Maggie Hassan's campaign launched "Business Leaders for Hassan," with more than 50 business leaders including Republicans, Democrats and independents from across the state joining together to support the Governor's re-election.

"Governor Maggie Hassan's bipartisan economic leadership has delivered real results for small businesses like mine," said Ben Bassi of Atkinson, Founder & Owner, CommonPlaces, a web design and marketing company. "Governor Hassan understands the needs of small businesses, but more importantly, she knows how to get things done. She reached a bipartisan agreement to fix our roads and bridges and has revitalized the state's economic development efforts, all while carefully managing our budget to ensure fiscal responsibility." "I continue to support Governor Hassan because we need a Governor who we can trust to run our state and fight for the interests of small businesses," said State Rep. Ed Butler, Hart's Location small business owner and chair of the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee. "Walt Havenstein is a failed CEO, and after his performance as CEO of defense contractor SAIC, he should not be allowed to run our state.

"Not to mention that he's proposed giving huge tax breaks to multi-national corporations, while wrecking our state's budget and making small businesses and middle class families pay the price," added Rep. Butler.

"I am grateful to have the support of so many New Hampshire business leaders as we continue working to expand middle class opportunity, help innovative businesses create jobs and keep our state moving in the right direction," said Governor Maggie Hassan. "Working together, we've set in motion an innovation plan that is strengthening the foundation of our 21st century economy. We froze tuition at our colleges and universities to help prepare our workforce, doubled the research and development tax credit, and worked with the business community to pass bipartisan plans to modernize our infrastructure and expand health coverage to 50,000 Granite Staters, which is reducing cost shifting onto businesses." "I know we have more work to do, and I know we can continue to do it the New Hampshire way - by bringing people together to get things done for our people, businesses, and economy," added Governor Hassan.

Governor Hassan has worked to bring together leaders of both parties, with the business community, to build an innovation economy for the future. The Governor reached out across the aisle and passed the most bipartisan budget in over a decade - with no sales or income tax - that is helping prepare New Hampshire's workforce by freezing in-state tuition at our colleges and universities.

To support innovative businesses, the Governor also worked across party lines to double the research and development tax credit, increased international trade assistance, and re-invested in keeping New Hampshire a top destination for tourism. And she worked with both parties and the business community to pass bipartisan plans to modernize the state's infrastructure and expand access to health coverage to 50,000 Granite Staters, which is reducing cost shifting onto businesses.

Governor Hassan also launched the "Live Free and Start" initiative to help make it easier for small, innovative businesses to open in New Hampshire.

The Governor will continue working with both parties to encourage high-tech startups, strengthen our workforce, and continue to invest in priorities like education and health care.
