Jose Otero Named as 4G Americas Director of Latin America and Caribbean


(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BELLEVUE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/06/14 -- 4G Americas announced today that Jose Felipe Otero Muñoz, who is well known for his knowledge about the mobile technology industry throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, will be the association's new Director of Latin America and the Caribbean. In his role, Mr. Otero will utilize his broad experience to contribute to the successful development of LTE throughout the region by working with key stakeholders which include mobile operators, vendors, regulators, telecommunications organizations, media and analysts. Mr. Otero's first appearance in the region in this new role will be as a keynote presenter and moderator at Futurecom.

With primary focus on the Latin region, he authored hundreds of reports with more than half of them centering on wireless technologies, their adoption, and how they can be used to promote development in the region. In addition, institutions such as the World Bank, Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL), Inter-American Development Bank, the White House and U.S. Department of Commerce have sought out collaboration with Mr. Otero. He is widely published and quoted with references in many top tier media sources in the Americas.

Mr. Otero is a frequent speaker at mobile industry events and will be providing his first keynote presentation as Director of Latin America and the Caribbean for 4G Americas on the topic, Mobile Broadband in Latin America with Vicki Livingston, Head of Communications for the same association, at the 4G Americas Wireless Technology Summit at Futurecom in São Paulo, Brazil on Monday, October 13th. The Summit is free to all attendees of Futurecom and will feature other leaders in the industry discussion of the future of LTE and beyond.

He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from Boston University, Boston, U.S. Mr. Otero's past affiliations include the editorial board of the Latin American Advisor, the Inter-American Dialogue, Washington, D.C., along roles as a fellow with the Institute of the Americas at University of California, San Diego and a researcher at Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economica, Distrito Federal, Mexico.  Jose Otero is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
