Alfa Mobile TV launched using Argela platform [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Lebanese state-owned, Egyptian-managed mobile network operator Alfa has launched the Alfa Mobile TV service, enabling its users to watch live TV channels and video-on-demand (VoD) content on smartphones and tablets over Alfa's 3G and 4G LTE networks or via Wi-Fi. The service is currently available for Alfa's million-plus mobile data subscribers on devices supporting iOS and Windows mobile operating systems, and soon to be expanded onto Symbian and BlackBerry devices. Alfa Mobile TV has been launched using Argela's ITV solution which enables IP-based video streaming for broadcast and on-demand content, which allows mobile operators to provide a multi-screen service whereby end-users can access a range of ITV services (including TVOD, SVOD, BTV, EPG, EPG Alarm, Favourite List and others) on laptops/PCs, tablets or mobile phones using a single account.
