Siemens Selects Dell OEM Solutions to Help Make Cities Worldwide More Livable and Sustainable

ROUND ROCK, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Dell OEM Solutions announced today that it has been selected by Siemens (News - Alert) to provide long-life desktop solutions after Siemens conducted a comprehensive search of tier one Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vendors. With urbanization on the rise, cities are becoming more populous and urban infrastructure is becoming increasingly strained. By combining engineering and data expertise, Siemens addresses the core challenges confronting urban and industrial infrastructures today through: integrated mobility solutions, such as electric and diesel-electric locomotives; high speed rail that move people and goods faster, safer, ad with fewer resources; integrated power solutions and smart grid technologies for safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power distribution; and smart building technologies that drive energy efficiency, reduce costs, and provide security.

Siemens sought to work with a tier-one OEM that can help to continue delivering the well-established Spectrum (News - Alert) Power 4 product. At a time when other vendors were phasing out their Solaris-based systems, Dell OEM Solutions continues to deliver a long-life solution. During their search for a tier one vendor, Siemens was impressed by Dell OEM (News - Alert) Solutions' ability to deliver a three-year lifetime of the OptiPlex XE2 desktop solution and to enable hardware compatibility. Additionally, Dell OEM Solutions offers a single source for comprehensive, end-to-end OEM integration and a global supply chain.

"We are proud to be working with Siemens in support of their mission to make cities more sustainable and livable," said Joyce Mullen, vice president and general manager, OEM Solutions at Dell. "Our work with Siemens is the latest milestone in one of many projects where we're enabling the Internet of Things. Dell OEM Solution's long-life solutions, coupled with our flexibility and speed in delivering customizable solutions, separate us from other OEM suppliers."
