Boulder's SendGrid changes CEOs, appoints Sameer Dholakia [Daily Camera, Boulder, Colo.]

(Daily Camera (Boulder, CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 30--SendGrid, a Boulder-based provider of e-mail delivery services, appointed Sameer Dholakia, a former Citrix executive, as its CEO, company officials announced Tuesday.

Dholakia replaces Jim Franklin, who has served as SendGrid's chief executive officer since 2011.

SendGrid officials said Franklin played an integral role in the company's recent growth.

"Under his leadership, SendGrid has evolved from a startup with 20 employees and several thousand customers to where we are today -- an industry leader in e-mail delivery with over 250 employees and over 175,000 customers," Isaac Saldana, founder and president of SendGrid, said in a statement. "We're excited to bring in Sameer to build on this strong foundation and lead the next phase of our growth." Franklin and SendGrid officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

SendGrid has more than 200 employees and offices in Boulder, Denver, London and Orange, Calif.

The company's e-mail infrastructure as a service is used by companies such as Pinterest, Spotify, FourSquare and Uber to send confirmation e-mails and receipts to customers.

SendGrid closed out last year with $28.9 million in revenue, a 1,945 percent gain from 2010 that landed the firm the No. 233 spot on the Inc. 500 list for 2014.

Earlier this year, SendGrid officials said the company was "rapidly approaching" $50 million in annual revenue, expecting to finish the year with 360 billion sent e-mails, budgeting 60 new hires and setting its sights on a future initial public offering.
