Miami Public Charter School First in U.S. to Adopt Educational Technology Tool That Protects Students and Maximizes Online Learning

MIAMI & DULLES, Va. --(Business Wire)--

Pinecrest Preparatory Middle-High School (PPMH) and Verite Educational Systems announced today that PPMH is the first school in the nation to adopt NetRef, a new educational technology that protects students online by managing Internet access across the school, in the classroom and by student. The first-ever educational security system that safeguards all Internet access points on school- and student-owned digital devices, NetRef helps teachers keep students on task with just one touch.

As tablets replace textbooks, students are increasingly online in school and have the potential to get distracted by social platforms, such as Instagram and Snapchat. With NetRef, PPMH's teachers will be able to set the digital boundaries their students need to be productive and focused. Easy to use and integrate, the intuitive software provides umbrella protection across the school's network and maximizes technology as a teaching tool.

"We invest in our teachers and students by adopting state-of-the-art technologies that simplify classroom management and provide the tools our students need to realize their potential academically," said Betty Nuñez, Principal of PPMH. "We are excited o pioneer NetRef and work closely with their team to integrate it into our existing IT system."

Created by a team of high-technology experts, NetRef operates with all web browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla (News - Alert) Firefox. It also operates with iOS, Android, ChromeBook and Windows-tablets, along with their respective apps.

Commenting on the first agreement to install NetRef, Verite Educational Systems CEO George Dotterer said, "We are delighted to collaborate with the administration at PPMH in rolling out our solution that safeguards the Internet as a rich source of information and wonder for students while keeping them safe and minimizing distractions."

NetRef plans to roll out a home version to families in spring 2015, linking school to home and ensuring that kids are safe and productive online, whether at school, at home or on the go.
