CEA Supports FCC in Sinclair Broadcast Group Challenge

ARLINGTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

Today, the Consumer Electronics Association (News - Alert) (CEA)® filed a Motion for Leave to Intervene in support of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Sinclair Broadcast Group's challenge to the FCC's (News - Alert) Incentive Auction Order. The following statement can be attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA:

"CEA supports the FCC's Incentive Auction Order and the benefits it promises for American consumers. With bipartisan support, Congress passed and President Obama signed legislation freeing up broadcaster spectrum to allow consumers greater wireless connectivity. The FCC is simply doing what the law requires to make available more spectrum for wireless broadband. Challenges to the Incentive Auction Order by broadcasters who have eight year broadcast licenses harm the FCC's ability to ensure our wireless networks and innovations are keeping pace with our growing innovation environment. We remain optimistic that the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals will resolve this matter in the FCC's favor quickly and decisively."
