United Kingdom : WIGHTFIBRE brings 152Mbps broadband to ISLE of WIGHT [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A new superfast broadband service is to be unveiled on the Isle of Wight. Isle of Wight internet service provider WightFibre is ready to introduce a new broadband offering that it claims will be double the speed of any other service on the island. From next month, inhabitants in all societies reached by the firm's fibre optic network will be able to advantage from speeds of up to 152Mbps, while current clients are also ready to see a substantial enhancement in performance. Anyone presently signed up to WightFibre's 120Mbps package will be automatically updated to the new top-tier service at no extra cost. This new boost comes shortly after the provider tripled the speeds available to householders on the island, and further broadens the performance gap between the firm and its competitors. Independent tests from Ookla show the average speed delivered by WightFibre is 28.49Mbps, compared with a figure of 14.18Mbps for BT. John Irvine, Chief Executive of WightFibre, commented: "As people connect more things to the internet more often TVs, tablets, smartphones and laptops, all at the same time they need powerful broadband with the bandwidth to deliver a great experience for everyone in the home."
