BT City Council Warns Against Constructing in Road Reserves


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Blantyre city council has warned residents in the city to be mindful on road reserve when construction their personal projects.

The development has been brought in as Airtel Malawi is installing fiber network around the city to help in upgrading internet services offered by the company.

Speaking in an interview with Malawi24 Director of Sound Planning and Estate Services at Blantyre city council, Costly Chadza said people should be aware on issues when planning their projects.

"People construct their project without following rules for the city; therefore we cannot compensate them" Said Chadza. He further said that despite decorating a place but people must be take note of road reserve where such type of project takes place on it.




Meanwhile the Airtel fiber construction project Manager Omex Kamandani has attributed that the work is to be done some odd hours in some public places to avoid disturbing the daily activities of the general public.
