Motorola Solutions included, Carbon Disclosure Project's List of Top Companies

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. --(Business Wire)--

Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI (News - Alert)) was recognized in the Carbon Disclosure Project's (CDP) 2014 climate change report as a leader among Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 companies for the depth and quality of climate change data disclosed to its investors and the global marketplace. Companies with disclosure scores in the top 10 percent are included on the CDP's S&P 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). The minimum disclosure scores to make the list have narrowed considerably over the past seven years from a score of 61 in 2008, to a minimum score of 97 in 2014.

This is the first year that Motorola (News - Alert) Solutions has been included in the CDLI, where it received a disclosure score of 98 and a performance band of "B." Only 63 companies worldwide made the 2014 list.

The CDP scores company disclosures on a scale of 0 to 100. High scores indicate that companies provided transparent, robust climate data and convey a strong understanding of corporate climate-related issues. The CDP also assigns a performance band on a scale of A to E - with "A" being the highest band - to companies scoring above 50 on disclosure scores. These performance bands are used to assess a company on its level of measurable action in areas such as climate change mitigation, adaptation and transparency.

  • CDP is a global not-for-profit organization, founded in 2000 with headquarters in London and offices located in 11 other countries. They developed and provide the world's only global natural capital disclosure system through which more than 4,500 companies from more than 80 countries and 207 cities report, manage and share vital environmental information at the request of institutional investors representing more than a third of the world's invested capital.
  • The program facilitates corporate management and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and climate-related risks and opportunities
  • CDP disclosure scores are provided to investors and other decision makers through various channels to help them assess corporate preparedness for changing market demands and emissions regulations
