New Internet security solution launched [Nation (Kenya)]


(Nation (Kenya) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Internet security vendor Cyberoam has launched a new solution, the Sophos end-point protection portfolio in Kenya and Tanzania.

Sophos protects operating systems, desktops, mobile devices, gateways and exchange servers. It can filter by policy and appliance.

Sophos can protect off-network laptops and PCs, making it the best in managing remote or workers telecommuting.

"Sophos brings evolved end-point security, which not only complements Cyberoam's network security solutions but also allows Cyberoam partners to establish a stronger position for growing African markets such as Kenya and Tanzania," said Philip Obondy, Channel manager-Kenya, and Cyberoam.



CYBERSPACE FACES "This opens up a huge opportunity for our partners as they will have access to a more powerful and versatile portfolio of security solutions from two security leaders," he added.

Cyberoam is among the top network security vendors in Africa and addition of Sophos end-point security solutions will open up more revenue opportunities.


A recent cyber security survey in Kenya revealed that the number of cyber-attacks detected in Kenya rose by 108 per cent to 5.4 million in 2013.

Botnet attacks, cyber-espionage, online and mobile banking fraud and anonymous proxy server attacks are some of the main threats that Kenya's cyberspace faces .

"Consumerisation of IT has made end-points more vulnerable to security threats.

End-point security has gained traction since it can provide decisive protection on the user's end-point where the networks are vulnerable to cyber threats," said Winnie Mafuru, channel manager —and Cyberoam Tanzania.
