Samsung introduces the Galaxy Alpha in Malaysia - RM1,899 [Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia)]

(Mobile 88 Online (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, Samsung Malaysia Electronics officially unveiled the first ‘metallic’ Galaxy smartphone, known as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

In a new design direction for the Galaxy brand, the Alpha still looks a lot like the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5, but the metallic casing does make it look more sleek and sophisticated- with rounded edges, shiny frame, and a soft tactile back cover. The Super AMOLED display measures 4.7-inches and features 1080pHD resolution.

That’s a LOT of ambassadors Under the hood, the Alpha is again a lot like the S5- featuring the same dual quad-core processor chips, one clocking at 1.3GHz and the other at 1.8GHz. It is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage capacity, but unfortunately there is no expandable storage option like a microSD slot.

Running on Android 4.4 Kit Kat, notable features from the S5 like the Ultra-Power Saving mode, Download Booster, fingerprint scanner, and S Health apps have also been included. The Galaxy Alpha will support connectivity with Samsung’s latest wearable devices, the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear Fit.

There is 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2.1-megapixel selfie camera. and the Alpha can record video in 4K Ultra High Def (UHD) at 30- frames-per-second. Connectivity options will include 3G, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC.

U Mobile and Maxis are already offering Samsung Galaxy Alpha telco plans, while the retail price is to be a rather attractive RM1,899.
