BBK launches authentication technology [Gulf Daily News (Bahrain)]

(Gulf Daily News (Bahrain) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANAMA: BBK has launched a dual factor authentication technology, which the bank said provides yet another level of security for its customers when they transact online.

It helps to protect them against theft or loss of passwords and resultant unauthorised access to their financial information online.

In addition to a customer identification and electronic personal identification number during Internet banking login, dual factor authentication provides an additional level of security using a dynamic one-time password (OTP) that is generated by or sent to the customer's mobile phone, BBK said in a statement.

The OTP is valid for a single login session only and for a short period of time.

"Our continuous investment in information technology and security is bearing fruit as more customers are opting to use the secure online banking platforms," BBK chief executive A Karim Bucheery said.

The smartphone application "BBK Pass", required to generate the OTP, is available for download at Apple, Google Play, BlackBerry World and Windows app stores. Customers can also ask to receive the OTP through an SMS sent to their mobile number which is registered with the bank.
