TIA Applauds Senate Committee Passage of E-LABEL Act

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 18 -- The Telecommunications Industry Association issued the following news release: The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today applauded the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for passing the Enhance Labeling, Accessing, and Branding of Electronic Licenses Act of 2014 (E-LABEL Act). The bill, which was passed last week by the U.S. House of Representatives, will now go before the full U.S. Senate.

"We are pleased that the E-LABEL Act is one step closer to enactment," said TIA President Grant Seiffert. "The bill will enhance the ability of ICT manufacturers to innovate and compete while increasing access to device information for consumers. The current FCC requirement for manufacturers to either etch or print mandatory regulatory markings on the exterior of devices unnecessarily increases costs, limits design options and ineffectively conveys important information to consumers." TIA - which is the leading voice for the modernization and improvement of information and communications technology (ICT) equipment - has been a champion for streamlining device approval processes around the globe, including through such allowances as electronic labeling.
