Gulder's new look is outstanding - Gov Obiano [Sun, The (Nigeria)]

(Sun, The (Nigeria) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has commended the new look of Gulder beer, describing it as outstanding and creative. He gave this commendation on Tuesday during the courtesy visit of the 14 contestants that qualified for the 11th edition of Gulder Ultimate Search. According to the governor, Gulder, which is doing well in the alcoholic beverage market, remains a case study at the Lagos Business School.

Earlier, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, who led the delegation to the government house, had formally presented the governor the new Gulder bottle. In his remarks, Ekanem said it was not a co-incidence that Gulder re-introduced the new bottle, adding that Gulder was a beer like no other, and that the brand decided to offer it no Nigerians in a new packaging with the taste and price remaining the same.

While responding, Governor Obiano described Gulder as an innovative beer doing well in the market. "Gulder is doing well in the alcoholic beverage market. The brand is a case study at the Lagos Business School. I must also commend the Brand Manager that is working behind Gulder's success. He is doing a great job promoting such a great drink," he stated.

Commenting on the new Gulder bottle, the governor stated that the brand's new look made it outstanding among other bottles. "This new Gulder bottle stands out among other beer bottles. And what you have done with the packaging is really creative," he said.

Also giving his blessing when the Gulder team paid him a courtesy visit at his palace was Eze Augustine Chukwuemeka Eri, Ezeora the 34th, Eze Akaji Ofor Igbo of Enugu Aguleri. He prayed that the Gulder brand would continue to soar.

Other members of the delegation are Emmanuel Agu, Marketing Manager, Gulder, Legend and Life; Onyeka Okoli, Senior Brand Manager, Gulder; Seun Lawal, Brand Manager, Gulder, and Edem Vindah, Corporate Media and Brand PR Manager.

The contestants include Iwuoha Ikenna, Nwagboso Joshua, Emedike Ikenna, Nne Cosy Joe, Ubachukwu Chinedu, Otto Canon Chimenem, Afolabi Emmanuel Olusegun, Iroh Noela, and Appi Samantha. Others are Erijakpor Loretta, Robinson Sharon, Eriata Blessing Ese, Addoh Evi, and Nwagbagiro Sandra.

Meanwhile, it may well be another 40 years before Gulder would re-launch in another bottle because the brand seemed to have thought about every single detail when it introduced what is now being known as Nigeria's most innovative bottle on Friday, September 6, 2014.

Truly, Gulder revamped its packaging. And perhaps the only vital elements that the brand did not touch with the re-launch are its taste, pricing and the colour of the beer.

So what makes the new Gulder packaging unique? The new bottle has several revolutionary attributes. To start with, the Gulder beer now has a premium Staniol, which happens to have been adopted by other beer brands currently in the Nigerian market. The premium Staniol seals the bottle to ensure the highest product quality inside. The proud gold neck seal has the iconic helmet, which has come to define the beer over the years. Beneath it is 'Gulder, the Ultimate' – an affirmation to its consumers that it remains the king of beers.

This time around, Gulder now comes in a conical shaped neck, which for the first time also reflects the pride of the Gulder drinker. One of the characteristics of the Gulder brand, confidence, is also echoed. The new bottle also has a strong masculine shoulder with Gulder embossment. Perhaps, that is why the new advert says that the Gulder beer has been redefined for men. Yes, the beer has been refreshed while it also comes in a distinctive metalized label. Once again, the iconic golden helmet is conspicuous and lies atop the word 'Gulder'.

The new Gulder has been tapered at the waist to emphasize the stamina of the bottle. Gulder also has a detailed base to authenticate its strength and serve as a podium for the bottle. The Gulder bottle is equally the first and only bottle designed in Nigeria with a double-sided embossing which aids gripping when it is wet. This is also a concrete evidence of the brand's innovative character. The masculine angular shoulders compliment the bottle's new, smart, dynamic and active youthful look. The rich metallic front and back labels add to Gulder's premium look and feel.

Inside the new bottle is the same extra-matured quality premium beer made from premium barley, the finest of hops and the purest of waters. These are all the natural ingredients to give it a crisp, distinctive and refreshingly bitter taste.

Mr. Walter Drenth, Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc., manufacturers of Gulder, at the re-launch, described the bottle as the most innovative in Nigeria. He said: "What we have done is to take Gulder from a 1970 bottle and transformed it to a 2020 bottle. I can tell you that this is the most innovative bottle in the Nigerian beer market today. Let me also assure you that despite the efforts and resources committed to giving our esteemed consumers of Gulder this classy bottle, the price and the taste remain the same." The re-launch of Gulder was performed in style and was held amidst pomp and panache. The new look Gulder was brought to the world by all the past winners of Gulder Ultimate Search. This marked the first time in the annals of any Gulder event that all past winners of Gulder Ultimate Search would be assembled under one roof. They include Ezego Egwuagwu (GUS 1), Lucan Chambliss (GUS 2), Hector Joberteh (GUS 3), Dominic Mudabai (GUS 4), Michael Nwachukwu (GUS 5), Uche Nwaezeapu (GUS 6), Oyekunle Oluwaremi (GUS 7), Christopher Okagbue (GUS 8), Paschal Eronmose (GUS 9), and Dennis Okike (GUS 10). An orchestra heralded the past winners, who now belong to the Order of Heroes, to the stage.

However, prior to the bottle re-launch, Gulder held a series of trade events, which introduced the innovative bottle to super key distributors, retailers and wholesalers as well as consumers of the premium lager beer across the company's business units. The events were held in Enugu, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Benin, and Lagos. The Abuja leg of the trade launch was held on Friday, September 13.

The trade launch afforded the brand's consumers the opportunity of asking questions that border on price and taste. They were assured that Gulder retains its crisp, unique taste and price, despite the change in bottle.
