National Park creates new units for start-up businesses [Newcastle Journal (England)]

(Newcastle Journal (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NORTHUMBERLAND National Park has created a range of units for startup buildings at its Hexham headquarters.

With the help of a secure computing network installed throughout the site, embryo companies and sole traders can now enjoy the same levels of wireless connectivity enjoyed by their inner city counterparts.

The system has been created by Pivotal Networks, a sister company of leading North East cloud computing consultancy SITS Group and provides super-fast internet access along with secure and reliable Wi-Fi and telephony.

The new system means tenants and their visitors can access the internet and other resources via their smart devices from any point on the site - one of the factors which prompted new tenant, publishers Bloodaxe Books, to sign up.

"Good connectivity is one of the most important things for our business to run smoothly and efficiently" said Rebecca Hodkinson, administrator at Bloodaxe Books.

Steve Willis at Northumberland National Park said, "Historically, a lot of rural businesses have really struggled to compete in the marketplace as they simply don't have the internet and wireless connectivity those in more urban areas have." "This system is an absolute godsend to them and has enabled us to put the site to really worthwhile and profitable use." As well as providing connectivity between all the offices, internally and externally, on the site, Pivotal Networks also extended it to encompass Northumberland National Park's outlying offices in Rothbury and Once Brewed.

"It has been a phased installation," said Kevin Almond, Pivotal Networks managing director.
