Critical Facilities Summit to Feature Session Led by Google's Joe Kava and Data Center Site Selection Discussion Led by Virginia's Director of Economic Development

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --(Business Wire)--

The Critical Facilities Summit, the only event focused exclusively on the design, construction and management of mission critical facilities, will be featuring presenter Joe Kava, Google's (News - Alert) Vice President of Data Centers, as well as a data center site selection panel discussing data center hub, Loudon County, Virginia. The sessions take place at the 2014 Critical Facilities Summit, September 29-October 1 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Mr. Kava will present "Successful Staffing Strategies for Data Centers," alongside Jim Smith, Director of Data Center Operations at Fluor, Joel Stone, Vice President of Global Data Center Operations at CenturyLink Technology Solutions (News - Alert), and CFT Eco & CTS Eco Principal Kristen Vosmaer. The panel will discuss what it takes to build an effective team and the impact that variables such as corporate culture and geography can have on the hiring and retention process in the mission critical field.

Held on Tuesday, September 30 from 9:30-11:00 a.m., the educational session will review roles of key staff in data centers, discuss how to structure staffing and training budgets, evaluate a data center's unique aspects on hiring and retention and assess participants' organization's current hiring and staffing plan for effective growth and operations as part of the Summit's Operations and Maintenance Strategies track.

"In the mission critical world, Google often sets the trend for everything from design to cooling to energy efficiency - the same can be said for its approach to recruiting and hiring," said Wendy Dietzler, director of education for the Critical Facilities Summit. "I'm thrilled Mr. Kava will lend his insights to this timely discussion; I anticipate a valuable information exchange among all the panelists."

Critical Facilities Summit is also featuring "Site Selection Considerations," as part of their High-Efficiency Initiatives and Opportunities track. The session will be held Tuesday, September 30 from 2-3 p.m. This discussion panel will be led by James Leach, Vice President of RagingWire Data Centers, Lawrence Melton, CEO and President at The Building People, Richard Warner, President and CEO at O&M Engineering and Loudon County, Virginia's Director of Economic Development Buddy Rizer.

Loudon County, Virginia is the data center home for major technology companies such as Facebook, Amazon, Google and Microsoft (News - Alert). More than 70% of the world's Internet traffic flows through Loudon's five million square feet of continuously expanding data centers daily. The panel will provide discussion of key data center site selection considerations from design-build, county and owner/operator perspectives.

Critical Facilities Summit features over 35 educational sessions that provide unparalled insights into best practices in the critical facilities world. The Summit is still accepting registrations, including Exhibit Only passes where more than 100 suppliers and service providers will be on display in the exhibition hall, demonstrating new products and solutions that improve efficiency, optimize data center performance, improve maintenance functions and boost reliability.
