Pericom Delivers Broad Support for Mobility Platforms(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/15/14 -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM (IDF) -- Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: PSEM), a leading supplier of serial high-speed switching, connectivity, signal-integrity and timing solutions, announced multiple new products in support of next generation mobile platforms including notebook, ultrabook, tablet, smart phone, and consumer products. Pericom displayed these products at IDF, Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, September 9-11, 2014 at Booth # 452. The new products are designed to support the latest CPU/processor chipset functionality and meet customer needs for the lowest power and smallest footprints. They expand Pericom's 'total segment solution focus' for low power mobility platforms, and include 'C Connector' multiple chip solutions, 'Combo' PCIe3/SATA3, USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0, and DisplayPort1.2 ReDrivers, SPI, HDMI, and Audio switches, USB detection/protection and charger solutions, and 32kHz XO. "High growth mobile platforms are a key focus for us, and new mobility chipsets need specialized IC function support to reach full operability," said Alex Hui, Pericom president and CEO. As mobile processors continue to shrink in size to save power, they need added high speed serial signal drive compensation. In addition, new processor I/O's are being multiplexed into multi-protocol 'combo' outputs which also reduce pinout and size, as well as reducing voltage for added power savings. Pericom's new Signal Integrity products are addressing these needs, specifically targeting small form factor mobility platforms to enable extended PCB traces and longer/thinner external cables to meet protocol compliance. The new 32kHz XO timing product family is focused on small mobile platforms that need highly accurate yet very small real time clock (RTC) and standby mode reference clock, with industry's lowest power ( < 30uA), and smallest footprint (2x1.6mm). A number of footprint size options are available.
