Fairborn company to add 100 new jobs [Dayton Daily News, Ohio]

(Dayton Daily News (OH) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 13--One of the top employers in Fairborn plans to add more than 100 new jobs plus up to $3 million in payroll when it expands at least 10,000 square feet in its existing building by the end of the year.

Teleperformance, a call center at 57 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Road, expects to invest about $500,000 into the project, which will be completed by mid-December, according to Ryan Collins, the local recruiting manager at the Fairborn office.

The new space will accommodate 101 new full-time, permanent jobs by the end of November. Base pay will be $10.50 an hour, with an opportunity to earn $12-$13 an hour based on performance.

"From our perspective, it means we're not only hiring the right people and meeting the standards of our clients, but the work we're doing is attracting more of that business," Collins said.

Teleperformance currently occupies 45,000 square feet in the 100,000-square-foot strip mall, and employs 500 people, making it one of the top five employers in Fairborn, said Chris Wimsatt, the city's economic development director.

Wright State University is the city's top employer with nearly 2,400 employees.

Wimsatt said the city has worked with Teleperformance for the last year and a half on finding more space and addressing transportation concerns. He said city tax incentives have not been an issue up to this point.

"We couldn't be happier, and it's good to be a part of," Wimsatt said. "We could always use the additional investment in town." The expansion -- which will be between 10,000 to 15,000 square feet -- will increase the annual payroll from $14 million to $17 million at the company's Fairborn site, Collins said.

The build-out will provide a new training suite and recruiting office, as well as remodeling the break room, new cubicles and new signage.

Collins said the total cost of the expansion is $500,000 -- $200,000 in equipment upgrades and $300,000 in facility upgrades.

The company considered moving the call center elsewhere in Greene County, but no potential locations were identified, Collins said.

"We've been a big supporter of the community, and a lot of the current staff live in the area," he said. "We have close ties to the city, and it was just a better move to stay." Teleperformance -- a worldwide organization based in France -- provides inbound customer service for an undisclosed major wireless provider, Collins said.

Locally, more than 9,500 people are employed in the call center industry. Call center employment is expected to grow 38 percent before 2022, much faster than the 13 percent average for all occupations, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
