Uncle Sam's List, Previously a Government-Only Listing of Commodity IT and Shared Services, To Be Made Available to the Public For the First Time

The American Council for Technology-Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC (News - Alert)), the premier government IT community's public-private partnership, today announced that Uncle Sam's List, a listing hub for commodity IT and support services on the internal MAX.gov portal, will reveal to the public Version 1.2 in conjunction with ACT-IAC's 2nd Annual Shared Services Forum on September 16th at the Washington, DC Grand Hyatt, 1000 H Street, N.W.

"The sharing of these opportunities with the private sector represents a significant milestone in public-private collaboration," said Rick Holgate, ACT President. "We are grateful to the leadership of The Federal CIO Council's Shared Services Task Force, which has worked effectively with ACT-IAC to produce this year's Forum and release Uncle Sam's List to the public." At the Forum, industry and government decision-makers will collaborate on best practices and identify ways to improve the ability to federate the site into an integrated environment with the private sector.

Uncle Sam's List is part of the government-wide initiative to eliminate redundant investments and improve program efficiency. It has been reported to have saved $300 million, with anticipated savings of over $2.5 billion from FY 2013 to FY 2015 in total consolidation efforts. Uncle Sam's List Version 1.2 enhances the already successful federal government platform by offering pages and microsites, allowing third-party participation. For the first time, industry will have the ability to use the list to expand its participation in advancing shared services to help government improve IT operations.

"Last year's Shared Services Forum brought to light the need to include industry in te dialogue and address the challenging issues related to shared services," said Charles Santangelo, Co-Chair of the Federal CIO Council Shared Services Task Force. "A shared services strategy born of public-private collaboration encourages a balanced and competitive environment to enable government to put its best services forward."

To continue the conversation, ACT-IAC, in coordination with the Federal CIO Council, will host the 2014 Shared Services Forum on September 16^th. The one-day event brings together hundreds of government and industry program leaders to address challenging issues related to the acquisition and incorporation of shared services strategies, policies and implementation.

"The government IT community called for a better way to collaborate on identifying useful shared services that would help with service quality and savings," said Dan Chenok, IAC Chair. "ACT-IAC looks forward to the upcoming forum as we continue to support the implementation of shared services across government, such as through Uncle Sam's List Version 1.2."

The 2014 Shared Services Forum will provide an open-dialogue around shared services delivery and critical success factors for expanded use of shared services. Panel speakers include key figures from both the public and private sectors, including: David Lebryk, Fiscal Assistant Secretary, Department of Treasury, Beth Angerman, Director, Office of Financial Innovation and Transformation, Department of Treasury, Darren Ash, Chief Information Officer, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Scott Bernard, Federal Chief Enterprise Architect, OMB, Joseph F.
