BRIEF: Rivergreenway gets a rest stop [The News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, Ind.) :: ]

(News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, IN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 04--People using the Rivergreenway will now be able to enjoy a rest area, thanks to the 2013 Leadership Fort Wayne Project Team's facility dedicated this week directly in front of the Water Filtration Plant on Spy Run Avenue. The site provides benches, an IPFW "Sculpture with Purpose" bike rack and a drinking fountain for people and their canine companions.

Leadership Fort Wayne was founded in 1983 by the Corporate Council and IPFW with seed money from the Lilly Endowment for people who have demonstrated their ability to achieve personal goals and are committed to community service.

The 2013 LFW Project Team, which included Kim Fuhrmann, Shawna Squibb, Kim Sabrosky, Chad Tranter and Matthew Wirtz, decided to create the rest node after investigating a number of other project possibilities. "Creating this space wouldn't have been possible without the assistance of many generous in-kind donors as well as those businesses and individuals who provided monetary contributions," Wirtz said in a statement.
