Tabula Joins EEMBC to Participate in Networking Benchmark Development

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

The Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) today announced that Tabula, Inc., a leader in programmable devices for high-performance packet processing applications, has joined the consortium's working group for developing benchmarks targeting networking applications. Tabula's membership in EEMBC (News - Alert) will allow the company to utilize these benchmarks, as well as serve as content experts in resolving the technical challenges of creating new networking benchmarks.

EEMBC was formed in 1997 to develop meaningful performance benchmarks for the hardware and software used in embedded systems. EEMBC benchmarks help ensure predictable performance of embedded processors and systems in a range of applications and disciplines. In addition to the benchmarks currently in development, EEMBC's networking benchmark still stands as a standard test used by thousands of companies and universities worldwide.

"With Tabula's experience in pacet processing applications, the company will be a valuable asset to our networking benchmark working group," said Markus Levy (News - Alert), EEMBC president. "Tabula will help us solve the challenges of developing an unbiased, industry-standard benchmark that examines important functions such as deep-packet-inspection (DPI) throughput and open data-plane processing."

"New content has greatly expanded the bandwidth requirements to handle the unparalleled amount of digital information. This situation has created an urgent need for new chip architectures to keep pace, and in turn, new benchmarks are needed to measure the capabilities of these new chips," said Marc Miller, Tabula's senior director of Marketing. "As a new member of EEMBC, we are very impressed with the methodology that this benchmark organization has developed and maintained. We look forward to contributing our resources to help ensure the continued development and evolution of next-generation networking benchmarks. Our customers will value the outcome of this effort when making decisions about new system designs optimized for secure packet processing."
