United States : ZIMPERIUM updates Mobile Threat Defense Suite [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Bringing a new app to iOS devices zIPS, a mobile security firm that provides a way to test if a public network has any vulnerabilities, Zimperium, has now updated its Mobile Threat Defense Suite to 2.0.

zIPS (or Zimperium Intrusion Prevention System), which the company released on Android about half a year ago, makes use of machine-learning technology to understand the way the device operations in day-to-day usage.

It spots known and unknown threats when the device starts acting irregularly, once it recognizes daily patterns.

Fitting it to iOS standards delayed the app, although the implementation of the behavior detection engine took less than two weeks on iOS.

The zIPS app is targeted at corporate workers and not the average consumer, which is sad as it would be great to have this type of security on all smartphones.

Itzhak 'Zuk' Avraham, Zimperium's CEO and founder, said : "There is nothing prohibiting us from making this product available for consumers; however, we are focused right now on protecting enterprises, and we ll consider releasing to the public down the road."
