Easy Taxi launches operations in Bahrain [TradeArabia](TradeArabia Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Easy Taxi, a leading taxi booking app worldwide, officially launched in Bahrain after a period of beta testing lasting two months. As part of the launch, Easy Taxi Bahrain will be offering a Free Taxi Week promotion with customers ordering through the App receiving a discount of BD2 ($5.15) off the total cost for the ride. This will start tomorrow (September 2) to run until September 8. The Easy Taxi App, which allows customers to book taxis through their smart phones, increases the efficiency and speed of hiring taxis in Bahrain. During its beta test period, over 100 taxi drivers signed up to use it. The number of customer rides that were requested through the Easy Taxi App has been steadily increasing since the beginning of the test, a statement said. Customers also presented positive feedback of the App's "driver information" security feature, which allows tracking of the location of the designated driver and shows his photo, name, phone number as well as his car's ID number. Customers also appreciated the ability to get lower-cost rides through the Easy Taxi App by not having the extra charge on the meter that is usually added if a taxi cab is requested through a call centre, according to the statement. Eugen Brikcius, general manager Bahrain & Dammam, said: "The integration between the internet and physical services has been increasing rapidly over the past few years, with many mobile applications having a major impact on established industries and the way they operate. "Easy Taxi has been a major driving force behind key and positive changes in the taxi industry, and its introduction to Bahrain comes as part of an ongoing strategy to expand in Gulf and Middle Eastern countries. As of now, we are also in the process of executing plans to introduce the Easy Taxi App to Bahrain's closest neighbour, Dammam – Saudi Arabia. We expect that this will allow visitors from both areas to have a more seamless experience while travelling within those two locations." The award winning Easy Taxi App has been rolled out in over 30 countries worldwide and has over 200,000 registered drivers, in addition to 1,300 employees and more than 10 million downloads. The Easy Taxi App also has a proven track record for reliable services provided to customers and increased business for local taxi drivers.
