Project Sponsor and Major Shareholders of Project Company : Rocket Internet ( Sponsor or RI ), one of world s most successful global online venture builders, was started in 2005 by entrepreneurs Alexander, Marc and Oliver Samwer. RI has incubated more than 100 fast growing online companies all over the world since inception and is currently located in more than 25 international branch offices on all 5 continents. RI s portfolio companies are present in more than 40 countries and generate more than US$2.5 billion in revenues. Total Project Cost and Amount and Nature of IFC~s Investment : The proposed IFC investment is comprised of an up to 10 million equity investment in Kaymu Eurasia. Location of Project and Description of Site : The Project will support the development of Kaymu s operations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Expected Development Impact : The Project~s expected development impacts include: (i) job creation in the areas of marketing and IT services and indirectly through supply chains, logistics, and other supporting services; (ii) transfer of technology by replicating proven internet business concepts in emerging markets with the goal of turning its ventures into local/regional market leading companies in the online retail space; and (iii) benefit to consumers in frontier regions and secondary cities through more choices, lower prices and convenient service with home delivery. IFC~s Expected Role and Additionality : IFC additionality will manifest itself through (i) the strategic long-term partnership IFC can build by playing a catalytic role, particularly in the regions where equity capital funds are less readily available in particular in IDA countries (ii) political/country risk mitigation in the more difficult environments; (iii) the stamp of approval IFC can provide at time of exit.
