RMB Capital Announces Sponsorship of Glass Half Full, a Greenhouse Scholars Event on Saturday, Sept. 6

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

A block party to be held Saturday, September 6 in Hinsdale supports exceptional students from Illinois who are leaders in their communities. "RMB Capital is committed to supporting organizations in the communities that we call home. We're proud to support Greenhouse Scholars, which is an impressive, results-driven education program," said Fred Paulman, RMB Capital co-founder and president, and a member of the Greenhouse Scholars development board. "Our firm's involvement has increased awareness of the organization among RMB employees, many of whom have become personally involved in fundraising, volunteering, and mentoring."

The block party is open to the public. It begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. at S. Park Avenue and E. 4th Street in Hinsdale, which is approximately 30 minutes west of Chicago. Guests will enjoy a live band, hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts from Il Poggiolo, Seven, and Topaz Café and .

"Each Scholar who joins our organization is selected based on incredible academic achievements, demonstrated leadership skills, and a commitment to bettering their communities-despite being from under-resourced backgrounds," said Pete Burridge, Greenhouse Scholars CEO and president. "Since Greenhouse Scholars expanded to Illinois in 2012, we have more than doubled our program and our community, thanks to RMB Capital's support. We look forward to raising a glass in their honor."

Founded in 2005, Greenhouse Scholars is an education non-profit organization providing comprehensive support for high-performing and under-resourced students from Illinois and Colorado. Through its "Whole Person" approach of intellectual, academic, financial and professional support, Greenhouse Scholars is committed to cultivating the next generation of community leaders.

Becoming a Greenhouse Scholar is a highly selective process. These students are from the most under-resourced communities: 72 percent of Scholars are the first in their families to attend college, and 40 percent of their families live below the poverty line. Yet they demonstrate extraordinary potential and make giving back to the community a priority: 71 percent of Scholars lead an organization on campus, 55 percent have founded an organization, event or club and more than 2,000 middle and high school students have been mentored by Scholars to date. Since 2005, Greenhouse Scholars has served nearly 150 students.
