College launches smartphone app [The Cheraw Chronicle, S.C. :: ]

(Cheraw Chronicle (SC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 27--Northeastern Technical College is now "mobile" with the recent launch of a free mobile app, called NETC Mobile. Students, faculty, staff, and anyone interested in learning more about the college, will now have on-the-go access to college news and events.

"NETC is excited to offer new ways for people in our community to know about the many opportunities and activities at our college," college President Dr. Ron Bartley said in a statement. "We hope that many will use this mobile app to learn about what is going on at our campuses." The interactive mobile app was developed in response to current technology trends, which show the number of people who access online information via mobile devices is skyrocketing. It's another way for students, alumni and everyone else in the community to feel connected, officials said, but NETC Mobile has practical applications as well.

NETC Mobile gives users a simpler and faster way to search for information about the college, college events, access student resources, and also allows the college to communicate important information, like weather closings and deadline dates, through the push notification feature.

Some of the features included in the mobile app are an events calendar and links to news pages; a resources page with links to the library, bookstore and more; one-click access to Northeastern Tech's social media accounts; and an easier way for alumni to stay connected with the alumni mailing list and Facebook page.

The NETC Mobile app can now be downloaded free from Google Play for Android smartphones and also from Apple's App Store to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
