Microsoft's Nadella to visit China amid regulator probe [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)](ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella will pay a visit to China in late September as the US software giant faces an investigation by a Chinese antitrust watchdog, Reuters reported, citing an unnamed insider. China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) earlier this week accused Microsoft of a lack of transparency over its software sales in the country. It is not clear if Nadella will meet with SAIC officials or government representatives. SAIC head Zhang Mao told media on Tuesday that his organisation's probe into Microsoft would centre on Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer. Microsoft is one of several foreign companies from a number of industry sectors currently under investigation by Chinese regulators in what is widely seen in the West as protectionism. Visits to China by senior Microsoft executives are rare. Nadella's predecessor Steve Ballmer did occasionally travel there during his 14 years in charge, but was deeply critical of the government's inaction on pirated software.
