Panasonic to sell office service unit

(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Electronics manufacturer Panasonic Corp. plans to sell its office service unit for several tens of billions of yen by March 2015 under its group streamlining plan, industry sources said Thursday.

Panasonic Business Service Co., with some 900 employees, has undertaken office supplies procurement, security and other services for other Panasonic group companies, reporting 20.2 billion yen in sales for the year to March 2014.

After the sale, Panasonic is expected to outsource these services.

In a bid to focus on automobile and housing areas where growth is expected, Panasonic also plans to sell its temporary staffing service unit, Panasonic Excel Staff Co. It has already sold its system development subsidiary, Panasonic IT Solutions Co., to Fujitsu Ltd.
