HP ArcSight's Doron Keller Joins Exabeam to Lead Security Research

SAN MATEO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Exabeam, a big data security analytics company, announced today the hiring of Doron Keller, a pioneer in developing security information and event management (SIEM) technology. Keller spent eight years at Hewlett-Packard (HP) ArcSight (News - Alert), where he was integral in the building content of the company's SIEM platform. He was also responsible for the monitoring content of the entire HP infrastructure and one of the largest SIEM deployments in the world. In his new role as senior security researcher at Exabeam, Keller will lead research as the company continues to grow and refine the next SIEM technology breakthrough.

Exabeam continues to expand its team following the recent closure of a $10 million series A funding round, led by Matt Howard at Norwest Venture Partners, including investments from Theresia Gouw at Aspect (News - Alert) Ventures and Angel Investor Shlomo Kramer, founder of Imperva. Keller's arrival at Exabeam reinforces a strong leadership team of early SIEM influencers, which also includes Domingo Mihovilovic, formerly founding vice president of Sumo Logic, who managed the development and operations of the company's cloud-based management and analytics service. In addition to bringing on top talent in the security industry, the funds are also being used to continue developing Exabeam's solution, which reverses the asymmetric advantage favoring hackers. The solution's machine-learning technologies complement existing SIEM and log management systems to simplify security perations by focusing on attacker behavior rather than ever changing malware and tools.

"Doron brings the wow factor to an already impressive leadership team of other SIEM luminaries, as Exabeam is poised to enhance how enterprises respond to tomorrow's security challenges," said Nir Polak, CEO and co-founder of Exabeam. "Doron's deep expertise in developing early SIEM technology will be an invaluable asset as we help customers identify the critical anomalies that help detect modern-day cyberattacks before they take hold."

Keller holds a patent for his work developing a system capable of determining the reputation of a network address to enhance SIEM functionality. His team provided the security value for the HP ArcSight's SIEM customers by developing capabilities around threat intelligence, identity context and compliance that were integrated into the product. He was later responsible for developing security content for the internal HP Cyber Defense Center, helping to build the world's largest commercial security operation center. Keller earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Tel Aviv University, and he is a certified information systems security professional (CISSP).

"Exabeam is on the cutting edge of SIEM technology. Having played an integral role in deploying SIEM for HP ArcSight, I see my new role at Exabeam as a huge opportunity to advance the industry and completely change the fundamentals of security response," said Doron Keller, senior security researcher at Exabeam. "Traditional log management and SIEM systems require massive overhead to create virtual tripwires that will alert whenever triggered. The problem with this approach is that organizations can only create tripwires for scenarios that they know about, leaving the door open to new attack methods. My work with Exabeam will help close that door for good."
