United States : NORTHROP GRUMMAN bags Navy IT contract [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The US Navy has selected Grumman Corporation as one of five contractors for the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) full deployment production contract for upgrading cybersecurity, command and control, communications and intelligence (C4I) systems across the fleet. The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity multiple award contract comes with a potential value of $2.5 billion over eight years.

Sam Abbate, vice president and general manager, command and control division, Northrop Grumman Information Systems, said, Northrop Grumman is deeply committed to helping the Navy transform its afloat C4I computers and networks into a single integrated, cyber-protected computing network. We look forward to continued collaboration with the Navy to deploy this crucial system to the fleet.

The CANES program is designed to eliminate various legacy, standalone networks and offers a common computing environment for dozens of C4I applications, strengthening the network infrastructure, improving security, reducing existing hardware footprint and decreasing total ownership costs.

Dave Wegmann, director, maritime command and control systems, Northrop Grumman Information Systems, said, CANES is a significantly faster, more secure and flexible network. Our original network design remains important to ensure CANES affordability and agility in delivering the next generation of C4I capabilities.
