Taiwan Province of China : INTEL enters into IOT deal with CHUNGHWA TELECOM [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Intel has entered into partnership with Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan's largest wireless carrier, to develop technology related to the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and software defined networking (SDN).



A memorandum of understanding has been signed by both the companies. Under the MOU, they jointly explore SDN in efforts to optimise energy use at cloud data centres, at the same time IoT technology would be used to develop smart homes, fleet management and energy savings.

Gordon G. Graylish, Intel's VP of sales and marketing group and general manager of enterprise solution sales, commented "Intel is delighted to expand collaboration spanning IoT, cloud and software-defined network with Chunghwa Telecom to realise the vision of (a) 'Connected Society' in Taiwan. We also look forward to supporting Taiwan becoming a global developer and manufacturer of IoT, cloud computing hardware as well as services, and software-defined (networks)." The collaboration follows the two companies teamed up on cloud computing collaboration back in 2010 when Chunghwa Telecom became a part of the Open Data Center Alliance. Moreover, the partnership is even Intel's fifth IoT project worldwide and marks its first one in Asia with a telecom service provider.
