The California Endowment's President and CEO Dr. Robert K. Ross Announces Martha "Marty" Jimenez as Executive Vice President/Counsel


LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

The California Endowment today announced that Martha "Marty" Jimenez has been named Executive Vice President/Counsel to the Foundation. Jimenez will serve in a key senior leadership role within the Foundation with responsibilities including chief advisor to the President and CEO on governance matters, organizational and operational effectiveness and strategy, legal counsel and several other important functions.

"Marty is a remarkable and agile leader that has brought together her legal, philanthropic, and public policy expertise to impact health and social justice at the state, national and international level," said President and CEO Robert K. Ross, MD. "Her rich talents are demonstrated in collective problem-solving, a strong record of transparency, and legal expertise in risk management that serves to maximize advocacy impact. Her experience ad leadership will be of great benefit to the executive team and the Foundation."



Jimenez is Senior Counsel for Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, and previously served in that office as the Director of Legal and Health Programs and Senior Health Deputy. As Senior Counsel, she is responsible for providing guidance, recommendations and legal strategy, as well as risk management policy development. "Marty is a thoughtful legal advisor that has served me and the residents of Los Angeles County with distinction," said Supervisor Molina. "Her sage legal counsel and practical insights have improved policies and systems, such as health care delivery, in service to government effectiveness while improving access for our most vulnerable residents. Marty's leadership and universal talents will be a tremendous benefit to the Foundation and its mission."

Prior to her service with Supervisor Molina, Jimenez served as Vice President for Policy and Development for Fair Trade USA where she advocated for "fair trade" practices to support farmers in developing countries by working with U.S.-based business. She also served at the Rockefeller Foundation, The California Endowment, Public Advocates, Latino Coalition for Healthy California and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. She will join The California Endowment on October 27, 2014.
