ACCESS Twine Platform Launched to Enable Operators to Conquer Multiscreen Fragmentation

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced the launch of ACCESS Twine. The new software solution enables multiscreen operators to bridge the growing gap between technology fragmentation and consumer demand for simplicity and universal content access on all devices.

"Fragmentation is the largest technological hurdle operators face when looking to deploy the multiscreen services that are now a consumer must have," said Dr. Neale Foster, COO and VP, Global Sales TV, ACCESS Europe.

"ACCESS Twine has been developed to provide a single management platform that helps operators address fragmentation issues in terms of device type, browser and OS, interaction method, screen size, secure content delivery and rights issues. ACCESS Twine provides the simplest route for operators to launch true TV Everywhere while enabling consumers to access the existing operator portfolio and their personal content such as recordings on their PVR devices even when they are outside of the home. This helps operators to focus on providing the best possible services to attract and retain customers as well as maximize ARPUs," concluded Dr. Foster.

ACCESS Twine in a nutshell:

  • Conquers fragmentation issues: the greatest technological issues faced by operators in deploying true multiscreen services. Operators can leverage their own "content transcryption" method via the gateway device.
  • Support for CA and DRM systems: Pre-integration of CA and DRM systems, including Microsoft (News - Alert) PlayReady, facilitating the control and in-home distribution of video content from PVRs and other devices
  • Accessibility on all platforms: Faciliating video content discovery and playback on mobiles, tablets and operator branded devices such as STBs
  • Domain and device management: Enabling operators to manage device authorizations, concurrent devices and remote access as well as create managed domains regardless of device and content security requirements
  • Tracking: Real-time data collection enabling efficient tracking and logging of device usage and media consumption
  • Personalized advertising models: Data analytics allow for targeted advertisement insertion, e.g. before and after PVR content and within user interfaces, enabling operators to monetize multiscreen.

ACCESS Twine combines cloud-based device and domain control with ACCESS' award winning DLNA certified technology component NetFrontTM Living Connect, which has been extended with new modules to control and monitor video distribution. The integration of the award winning NetFrontTM Browser NX as an optimized HTML5 User interface engine ensures that ACCESS Twine is ready to meet today's requirements for fast service deployment and easy integration of online services. By using HTML5 and responsive design functionality, operators can develop flexible user interfaces (UIs) that enhance the user experience (UX) across different operating systems, screen sizes and interaction methods. Support for the new Encrypted Media Extensions and Media Source (News - Alert) Extensions also enables the solution to comply with the content industry's security requirements. ACCESS Twine also features support for open standards such as the new DLNA Commercial Video Profile-2 (CVP-2) guidelines, DLNA, DTCP-IP, HbbTV and HTML5 to provide a seamless experience on all connected devices.

The solution includes a Software Development Kit (SDK) for Android (News - Alert) and iOS mobiles and tablets as well as easy to use Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for Content Management, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and CA (News - Alert)/DRM middleware, enabling it to drive and control media sharing in the connected home.
