Sony announces its smallest Alpha 5100 APS-C camera [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sony has officially unveiled the Sony Alpha 5100 camera and claims it to be the smallest interchangeable-lens mirrorless camera ever made. The camera features an impressive APS-C image sensor that shares the same 24 million pixels as the Exmor APS-C image sensor with inbuilt phase detection autofocus and the Bionx X image processor found in the impressive Alpha A6000 camera. This means that we get fast autofocus speed, better low light operation with a lot less noise, good picture quality and picture processing solutions.

The Alpha 5100 is a direct replacement of the NEX-5T and will mark the end of the line for the impressive NEX series of mirrorless cameras. The Exmor APS-C CMOS sensor will offer a sensitivity range of ISO 100-25,600 and will feature the hybrid autofocus system with a 179-point phase detection for speed (0.07Sec) and contrast detection for accuracy. Movies can be recorded at FullHD frame rates up to 60fps and support video formats including XAVCS format with a bitrate up to 50 Mbps. The camera features a tiltable 921,600 dot LCD with limited touch capability.

Moreover, the camera features a built in flash, but lacks a built in EVF like the one found in Sony RX100M3, and features WIFI and NFC for sharing pictures. The Sony Alpha 5100 will be available mid September with a price tag of $699 (approx. 2570AED) with a 16-50mm lens, and $549 (approx. 2017 AED) for the body only in black and white colors.
