Andired Colombia Selects Ceragon Networks [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ceragon Networks has been selected by Andired Colombia to provide backhaul solutions as part of a new national broadband network deployment.

According to a company release, Andired Colombia is a consortium comprising Anditel S.A.S, Furel S.A., Electricas de Medellin - Comercial S.A. - Edemco, and Accion S.A. Andired has won the broadband expansion tender launched by Colombia's Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication in December 2013.

The deployment is expected to complete in 2015. The network will cover 27 municipalities in the Orinoquia, Amazonia and Pacifico regions, which are not included in Colombia's National Fiber Optic Project.

The high-capacity backbone network will be based on Ceragon's IP- 20 product line and will be operated by Andired for ten years.

"This is a project of national importance as it will help to improve the quality of life for Colombians living in rural regions and enable future 4G services across the service territory," said Henry Zambrano, General Manager of Andired. "We chose Ceragon's IP- 20 product line based on its technical performance, energy savings features and compact design." "We are excited to be selected to provide our products and expertise in support of such a strategic project," said Ira Palti, President and CEO of Ceragon. "Andired is Colombia's leading expert service provider in rural Colombia and we are proud to partner with them and support them to achieve their goal of connecting millions of new users to high-speed communication services."
