Arts Notes: Symphony board adds seven new members [The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville :: ](Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville, FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 16--Seven new members have been added to the Jacksonville Symphony Association Board. They are Don Baldwin, chief marketing and strategy officer of Haskell; Andrew "Andy" Harold, president and CEO of A. Harold and Associates; Randy Johnson, community volunteer; Kiki Karpen, community volunteer; Allison Keller, executive vice president for human resources and corporate affairs of PGA Tour; John Malone, director of DeutscheBank; and Terry West, CEO of VyStar Credit Union. Also new on the board, serving as an ex-officio member, is Michael R. Imbriani, president of BRASS (Beaches Residents Actively Supporting the Symphony). ARTery holds successful fundraiser During the recent ARTery pARTy Raises held at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum the organization raised more that $10,000 for its proposed Visual and Performing Arts Center. The ARTery's goal is to transform the old Jacksonville Armory (located at State and Market streets) into a public cultural arts center. The plan is to create a facility similar to The Torpedo Factory (www.torpedofactory.org), a successful consolidated arts center in Alexandria, Va. For more, contact [email protected] if interested in volunteering. Theatre on a Mission pays visit to Kenya The Theatre on a Mission team recently return from a three-week trip to Kenya. Theatre on A Mission, which consists of a group of high school and college students, won the crowd favorite at One Spark in the arts category. The group used the almost $12,000 it received during One Spark to fund the trip and help the Foundation Stone Orphanage put a down payment on a parcel of land for a future school. During the trip, the group took a theater camp to Bondo, Kenya. While there, they lived and worked at the Foundation Stone Ministries orphanage and went on a safari. Meet team who found Maple Leaf wreck Keith Holland and other members of the St. Johns Archaeological Expeditions will be at the Mandarin Museum 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday and again on Saturday, Aug. 30. In 1984 the team found the wreck of Maple Leaf, a Union transport ship that was hit by a Confederate torpedo in the St. Johns River off Mandarin. They will be display artifacts they salvaged and tell stories about their efforts. The museum is at 11964 Mandarin Road in Walter Jones Historical Park.
